FIRERAT
DON'T FIGHT THIS FIRE TWICE
What is the FireRAT?
The FireRAT is that extra level of assurance your Departments needs to monitor the scene after a fire has taken place. Replacing the manned element of a classic fire watch with the FireRAT has proven to protect the structure and reputation of your department alike. Sensing the first indication of a smolder and notifying a department within seconds allows you to be first to take action.

-Reduce department expenses by allowing your personnel to be rested for the next call
-Reduces overhaul and fire watch related injuries
-Outperforms manned fire watch by monitoring multiple areas at once without needing breaks

-Stand alone unit requiring no power outlet for 72 hours.
-Notification time to your dispatch is seconds from when the FireRAT detects a fire
-Decrease overhaul time for firefighters.

INFORMATION
Rekindles begin from a fire that was once declared under control. They are the re-occurrence of a fire that was first thought to be out but in fact, contained hidden heat sources or "hot spots" that went undetected during overhaul. If a FireRAT is not used and no manned watch is left on scene than undetected "hot spots" can re-establish the combustion process and the fire, once thought to be extinguished, comes back to life again.
Rekindles can be very costly. They many times cause more damage than the original fire. This is quite true in structural fires because once a fire occurs and the overhaul is over, the fire has an even better chance of spreading once open flame is achieved again.
The fireman's job of protecting life and property are their top priorities. Controlling fires, extinguishing fires, and preventing rekindles are a big responsibility. When a rekindle occurs, the burden of responsibility falls on the shoulders of the incident commander. Rekindles that could have been prevented is a professional embarrassment as well as the cost and danger.
All fires require overhaul. However there is a fine line between too much overhaul and not enough. Too much overhaul and the owner complains of the damage done, sometimes the building's damage during the overhaul can exceed the damage the fire causes. If you don't do enough overhaul and the fire restarts again, then you have a rekindle.
Firefighters often spend countless hours using traditional mop-up and overhaul methods relying only on human senses such as sight and smell.
New technologies such as infrared thermal scanners, compressed air foam, and hot spot detectors all have a place during and immediately after a fire has occurred. However, once the department has left the scene there is little that addresses this problem which continues to occur.

FAQ
HOW HARD IT THE FIRERAT TO SETUP?
The FireRAT can be installed in just a few minutes. There are no wires to run, everything is wireless.
CAN A FIRERAT BE USED WHERE A FIRE WATCH IS NEED?
With the approval of your local jurisdiction, the FireRAT can take the place of a manned fire watch. In fact in many cases it is better since it's detectors can be located in more than just one area.
CAN THE FIRERAT OPERATE AS A TEMPORARY FIRE SYSTEM?
The FireRAT has been used many times on construction sights, during remodel, when the existing system had to be disabled and fire detection was required.
HOW ABOUT TEMPORARY EVENTS, WILL THE FIRERAT WORK THERE?
The FireRAT is a great choice for Haunted houses, large tent events etc. where a Fire detection system is not available.
CAN THE FIRERAT WORK WITH AN EXISTING FIRE ALARM SYSTEM TO ADD ADDITIONAL COVERAGE FOR A PERIOD OF TIME UNTIL THE MAIN SYSTEM IS REPAIRED?
Yes. The FireRAT can interface with any existing system and it will report alarms immediately to our Central Station.
SINCE THE FIRERAT IS PORTABLE, CAN HORN/STROBES BE CONNECTED TO IT?
Yes the FireRAT supports wireless Horn/Strobes. They can be placed where needed for remote annunciation.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE USES FOR THE FIRERAT?
The FireRAT can be used to detect rekindles after a overhaul.
It can be used as a temporary stand alone fire detection system
It can be used at shows, schools demonstrations etc. to demonstrate a fire alarm condition
The FireRAT can saves money and manpower after an overhaul, by not having to leave a fireman and vehicle at the scene possibly preventing addition loss of property or a job injuries.
HOW LONG WILL THE FIRERAT OPERATER ON ITS INTERNAL BATTERY?
The FireRAT has been tested to operate for up to 3 days on a single battery charge.
HOW DO I KNOW IF THE BATTERY IS FULLY CHARGED?
The FireRAT has a volt meter built into the face of the unit that shows the current voltage. It is recommended to recharge the RAT if under 10 volts. Normal voltage should be between 12 and 13 volts.
ARE THERE ANY ACCESSORIES AVAILABLE FOR THE FIRERAT?
The FireRAT comes standard with (4) wireless smoke detectors, backup battery, power supply, cellular transceiver and local wireless receiver. It will operate anywhere in the country where cell service is available. The detectors can operate distances of over three football fields away from the main unit. Additional smoke detectors, pull stations, horn/strobes, heat detectors, water flow detectors and interfaces to connect to another system are available.
